The Tupi people, one of the main ethnic groups of Brazilian indigenous people, believe in a male supernatural being called “Curupira” that guards the forest in Tupi mythology. I crowned this BLOG with his name because I aspire the BLOG, which deals with insects as part of the nature, to play a role just like Curupira who protects the forest from the destructive habits of man.

My net connection went dead again for about 5 hours yesterday.
It was reported that the disruption had been caused by lightning which appeared to hit the same relay facilities in Port Velho located in the jungles some 800km away from Manaus that had caused another disruption last month. It's in the middle of a thick forest area which is only accessible to four-wheel drive service vehicles.
This time's disconnection had repercussions for on-line airline reservations and inter-airport communications, in addition to the internet connection, ATM and credit-card settlements.
The disruption in communication held five scheduled commercial flights grounded for about five hours at Manaus Airport, and left the entire city in almost total isolation.
Lightning also knocked out power supply that brought the operations at the city's industrial parks to a complete stop. The combined economic damage is estimated to reach a few tens of million yen.
