The Tupi people, one of the main ethnic groups of Brazilian indigenous people, believe in a male supernatural being called “Curupira” that guards the forest in Tupi mythology. I crowned this BLOG with his name because I aspire the BLOG, which deals with insects as part of the nature, to play a role just like Curupira who protects the forest from the destructive habits of man.

I was on a fishing trip on Nov. 21, 22 and 23 with my friends. It was meant to be the last expedition of the current fishing season.
The catch was five tucunarés (cichlid, a.k.a. 'eye-spotted bass') of 2-3 kg in weight.
I didn't have much time to shoot many photos because I was so wrapped up in fishing.
I savored those fish as sashimi and ceviche (a Peruvian dish of fish pickled in vinegar) with my family Sunday night.
Large-size tucunarés school under water around the trees standing decayed in the center of the photo. Though I hate to tell you, I had let tucunarés, four of them, of well over 5 kg slip wriggingly off the hook.
