The Tupi people, one of the main ethnic groups of Brazilian indigenous people, believe in a male supernatural being called “Curupira” that guards the forest in Tupi mythology. I crowned this BLOG with his name because I aspire the BLOG, which deals with insects as part of the nature, to play a role just like Curupira who protects the forest from the destructive habits of man.

On December 7 and 8, three cruise ships came into the Port of Manaus. One carried tourists from the United States, another full of Europeans, and the last one brought a bunch of Brazilians on board.
A total of 2800 most welcome tourists.
Of them, 103 people visited my Museum in three coaches and one minicoach.
As it turned out afterwards, ten sightseeing boats had been readied for those who might wish to go boating on the Amazon, but they were left almost empty with hardly any business.
That shows a recent trend--tourists visiting this part of the world would not come off their boat.
Even considering that a good part of such tourists are elderly people, I couldn't help murmuring, "What's the point of coming all the way down to the Amazon?" Then, an image of a moving old folks' home came to my mind.
